Title: The Bond of Ember Series: The Witches of Innsbrook - Prequel Author: Viola Nichols Genre: Fantasy Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ I'm yet to read any others in the series, but as a prequel novella, I enjoyed this read. It was a quick read and although there was limited world-building and expansion on external/secondary characters, I feel when moving onto the Witches of Innsbrook Series, it will make more sense. Sarri - our FMC- starts out with an almost sheltered, immature personality and doesn't seem to grasp the bigger picture. Perigorn - our MMC - is definitely the more mature and caring of the two, not hesitating to help Sarri. The timeline of it can be a bit jarring so maybe some more indication as to how long Sarri was caged etc would help flesh it out more, making their relationship grow at a steady pace. This book offers some spice that adds another element, but due to the short nature of the book, there aren't too many scenes as it would take away from the main story too much. ...
